Announced by Deadline today, October 11, 2012, Warner Bros has made a remarkable series of casting decisions for the upcoming film, “Grudge Match.” Kevin Hart has been cast as the fight promoter who gets two retired brawlers, the legendary silver screen boxers, Robert De Niro and Sylvester Stallone to square off in the ring. Better yet, the studio has green lit the film, which will be helmed by director Peter Segal (“50 First Dates,” “Get Smart”) and written by the genius behind the “Entourage” series, Doug Ellin. The film is also being produced by Billy Gerber (“Gran Torino”) and Mark Steven Johnson (“Grumpier Old Men”).
Following his success in the hilarious “Think Like A Man,” Hart is extremely hot right now, and it’s easy to see him as a hilarious little fight promoter, though the film’s main draw here will be the ultimate silver screen boxing match between Rocky Balboa and Jake Lamotta from “Raging Bull.”
